Calipers
Calipers
A Vernier caliper is a measuring tool that is very precise and more commonly used in engineering, as well as physics and biological methodologies. A Vernier caliper is composed of a main scale on the beam and a movable Vernier scale used to measure varying objects. The reading error is 0.05mm.
Vernier Scale Facts:
· Vernier calipers provide very accurate measurements and are commonly used to survey land, used in ship navigation, and for making precisely measured machine parts.
· Before the invention of the Vernier calipers, researchers and engineers had to estimate lengths when a measurement was between ticks on a ruler, making the measurement less accurate.
· Researchers, engineers, mechanics, and physics experts regularly use Vernier calipers.
